How we verify a temple listing

What the verified badge means, what it does not mean, and why most listings do not have one yet.

Every listing on Temple Navigator carries one of two states, and the difference matters if you are planning a journey.

Imported, not confirmed

Most listings began as records in public directories. They give us a name, an address and sometimes a phone number. We publish them because an imperfect starting point beats no information at all — but we do not claim they are correct.

Verified

A verified listing has been checked against the temple's own published details. Someone opened the temple's website or called, and confirmed the address and the opening hours on the page.

A verified badge is not a permanent guarantee. Hours change for festivals and maintenance. Always call ahead before a long drive.

How you can help

If you know a temple well, the Suggest an edit link on its page is the fastest way to fix something. Every submission is read by a person before anything changes.
